How to link an MT4, MT5, or cTrader account from the Accounts page — credentials vs. OAuth, plan account limits, and the US CFD restriction.
Every broker connection starts on the Accounts page inside the app. Click + Add Account, choose Trading account as the type, then pick a platform — MT4, MT5, or cTrader — from the dropdown.
Once an account is connected, it's available wherever it's needed: as a copier source or destination in Cockpit's Instances tab, in your Trading Journal, or as an execution account for Signal Copier. You connect it once here, not separately for each feature.
Which platforms actually appear as connect options depends on your plan — Starter's trade copier covers MT4, MT5, cTrader, Tradovate and NinjaTrader; how many of each you can connect is a plan figure. If MT4/MT5 looks greyed out or shows an upgrade label instead of "Coming soon," that's a plan limit, not something broken.
MT4 and MT5 connect with your standard broker credentials:
Use your trading password, not a read-only/investor password. Copier and signal execution both need to place trades on this account — a read-only password will fail to connect, or connect without ever being able to copy anything.
Your password isn't stored in TradinSolutions' own database — it's passed straight to the secure trade-execution service that powers the connection.
If you've already connected the same login and server elsewhere (for example, as a copier source), the system recognizes the match and reuses that connection instead of asking you to re-enter the password.
cTrader doesn't use a login/password form — it connects through cTrader's own login:
To add a second cTrader account later, use + Connect another cTrader account on the same picker — no need to disconnect the first one first.
If the picker shows no available accounts, either you haven't run the cTrader OAuth step yet, or every account from that login is already connected somewhere else in TradinSolutions.
Tradovate and NinjaTrader give a connected app the current trading day only. A futures account's history in the Journal therefore starts on the day you connect it; trades closed before that, or on a day the connection was down, are not read back by a sync. To bring those days in, download a Performance or Fills report from Tradovate, or a Trades or Executions export from NinjaTrader 8, and use IMPORT A REPORT on the account in the Journal. The Journal basics article covers the formats and what the import checks.
Each plan allows a set number of connected accounts. If you're at your plan's limit, connecting another account fails with a message telling you to upgrade or remove one first — nothing connects silently past the cap.
MT4, MT5, and cTrader are CFD-connected platforms. Under CFTC/NFA rules, TradinSolutions doesn't offer CFD connections to US residents. If your account is flagged as US-based, connecting any of these platforms is blocked, and you may be asked to confirm your country of residence in Settings first if you haven't already. This restriction doesn't apply to Tradovate.
